Indigo airlines take a step ahead for Long Shirdi Plans to bridge the gap between the Shrine Shirdi Sai Baba and the devotees of Indore. Indigo will be starting with its first direct flight between the city and Shirdi from October 27th. As per the schedule set by the airline, flight 6E 7227 will take off from Shirdi airport at 9.35am and land in Indore at 10.55am. In return, flight 6E 7177 will take off from Indore at 11.20 am and reach Shirdi at 12.35pm.
The airport authorities at Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport said that this would be a daily flight with an ATR 72-seater, which would be introduced under upcoming winter schedule. This is one of long pending demands of the residents who were awaiting for this service from a long time.

Indigo also plans to operate a flight between Indore and Lucknow. Airport officials said that Vistara has also announced plans to introduce a direct flight between Delhi and Indore from October 26. This will increase the no of flights flying form Indore-Delhi up to 10.
It was reported that the number of flights operated to and from Indore had gone down after Jet Airways suspended nearly a dozen flights to and from Indore.
The city expects to increase the number of flights between October and November as many airlines have been allotted slots in the proposed winter schedule, which will be effective from October 27 to March 28, 2020.
