Indore Dancers Bring Home International Excellence Awards

 

The dance team of Drupad Dance Academy, Indore received accolades and honors at the recently held “Pratibha Parayanam Mahotsav” dance fest cum competition organized under the banner of Nrutyadham Kala Samiti, Bhilai in association with Geet Vitan, Chattisgarh, Dance hut, West Bengal, and North East Vision, Assam. This was a month-long international art and culture online fest that was held from 7 November to 7 December.



This online fest saw the participation of artists and dancers and groups from many cities in India as well as from other countries, like the US, Nepal, Malaysia, Dubai, and Bangladesh. The Indore team participated in Bharatnatyam and Kathak dance styles in the solo, duet, and trio categories. The performances of the Kathak trio Akansha Dixit, Ridhima Dubey, Gaurangi Joshi, and the semiclassical duet of Anisha Nigam and Saanvi Padhye won the Sarvottam Samman Certificate of International Excellence. The Uttam Samman for Bharatnatyam was awarded to Siyona Kumarawat and Siya Gupta and for Kathak to Dimple Nagvanshi.



In the solo dance category, Akansha Dixit for Kathak, Ishani Krishnan for Semiclassical, and Shivani Sudarshan for Bharatanatyam won the Sarvottam Samman. Dr. Rakhi Roy, the convenor of the Pratibha Parayanam, highly appreciated the participants and their performances. Guru Ashish Pillai congratulated his students for their win. The winning Indore team trained faithfully and religiously even during the lockdown and made the best use of online training sessions.
