Union Ministry of Education is working on a plan to support Indian students in the field of online gaming. This is an effort by the Ministry to create new employment opportunities in this era of unemployment.
Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said that through innovation in the technology and design of toys, they are planning to organize a ton of hackathons for students from institutions of higher education soon. This will be a platform to showcase the talent of student gamers from across the country. This hackathon will be based on technology and design reflecting Indian ethos and values.
Talking about the toy industry and employment in online gaming, the Union Minister said that the need of the hour, as PM Narendra Modi has said, is to make India self-reliant. And the toy industry has a huge potential that we can tap into and all students should take advantage of it.
Nishank said that toys and puppet making skills should be developed among school students. They will present it under the theme of ‘Kala Utsav’ to encourage students to explore and develop local toys.
The curriculum and textbooks have undergone many fundamental changes under the new education policy. Students will have more opportunities to learn in the new curriculum, but teachers will also have to adopt new teaching methods. The Ministry of Education will work to connect all students to the curriculum through one digital platform.
