Elon Musk becomes the richest man in World, beating Amazon’s owner Jeff Bezos
Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk has become the richest man in the world leaving behind Jeff Bezos of Amazon. Elon Musk’s net worth exceeded $188 billion, which is a billion dollars more than the $187 billion net worth of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.
Elon Musk has left behind Amazon’s owner Jeff Bezos in the list of billionaires released by Bloomberg. This list includes 500 billionaires from around the world and Bezos has been reigning the top position on this list since 2017.
The reason for this bump is the continuous increase in the share price of Tesla as well as Jeff Bezos’ divorce. Had Bezos not been divorced, he would still have been the richest man in the world as he gave a large part of his property to his ex-wife. Apart from this, he donated $ 68 million worth of shares in November last year.
Many Twitter users tweeted congratulating Elon Musk and Musk reacted in his humorous style. Replying to a Twitter user, he said, “How strange”.
2020 may have been bad for the world, but for Elon Musk, the past year has been great. At the start of 2020, Musk’s net value was around $27 billion, but as the year progressed, his wealth increased by $150 billion, a rapid financial gain and Tesla had a huge contribution to this gain! The South African-born engineer, Musk also holds a huge stake in Space-X, which is about $15 billion.
