With a rating of 81, National Award-winning director Hansal Mehta’s debut web series, Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story, has received the highest IMDb rating among all the other Indian web series. It was released on 9th October 2020 on SonyLIV and is based on the real-life story of Harshad Mehta and his billion-dollar scam which shook the whole stock market.

2) Sacred Games Season 1 (2018)

Sacred Games has contributed majorly to the rise of web series on OTT platforms in India. The show is an Indian crime thriller web series based on Vikram Chandra’s novel by the same name, starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Saif Ali Khan, Radhika Apte, Kubra Sait, Rajshri Deshpande, Luke Kenny, Neeraj Kabi, and many others. All the characters in this show are memorable and the story will grasp you in ways you’ve never known!

3) Special Ops (2020)
Directed by Neeraj Pandey, Special Ops is an Indian espionage thriller series released on Disney+ Hotstar’s label Hotstar Specials. It stars Kay Kay Menon, Karan Tacker, Muzammil Ibrahim, and Sayyami Kher, among others.

It also is among the top-rated web series on IMDB with a rating of 81. Its plot is inspired by several espionage missions by India in the last two decades.

4) The Family Man (2019)

Released on Amazon Prime, The Family Man also stays on the top with a rating of 81 on IMDB. It is an action-thriller web series released in September 2019, starring Manoj Bajpayee and Priyamani. The show is inspired by real-life newspaper articles and follows the story of a secret intelligence officer investigating potential terrorist attacks. With its current popularity among the masses, the series has been renewed for 2 more seasons.

5) Mirzapur Season 2 (2020)
Directed by Gurmeet Singh and Mihir Desai, Mirzapur is an action crime thriller web television series on Amazon Prime Video produced by Excel Entertainment. With two gripping seasons, Mirzapur has become a global sensation. The plot follows the story of families set out to take over the town of Mirzapur from the ruling crime family of the Tripathi.

6) TVF Pitchers (2015)
This is one of the older Indian web series which is created by ‘The Viral Fever’ on TVFPlay. With a rating of 75 on IMDB, this web series follows the story of 4 men who quit their jobs to start their own company which isn’t as easy as it sounds. The show is filled with hilarious moments from their personal lives as well as the ups and downs they face with their company.

7) Paatal Lok (2020)
Paatal Lok is a crime thriller web series that premiered on Amazon Prime Video on 15th May 2020. It is directed by Prosit Roy and Avinash Arun and stars Jaideep Ahlawat, Gul Panag, Neeraj Kabi, Swastika Mukherjee, Ishwak Singh, and Abhishek Banerjee. It follows the story of an inspector investigating an assassination attempt gone wrong which leads him into the underworld!

8) Asur (2020)

Asur is quite different from the web series mentioned in this list given its mythological nature. It’s also a crime thriller show with a mythological twist created by Gaurav Shukla and directed by Oni Sen. Asur follows the story of a serial killer and was released on Voot on 2nd March 2020.

9) Kota Factory (2019)

Starring Jeetendra Kumar, Kota Factory is the first Black & White web series directed by Raghav Subbu for The Viral Fever and has a rating of 72. The show is available on both TVF Play and YouTube and follows the life of a 16-year olf Vaibhav, an IIT-aspirant and his life and struggles as he moves to Kota from Itarsi.

10) Panchayat (2020)
Panchayat is comedy-drama web series that premiered on Amazon Video on 3rd April 2020. The show is produced by The Viral Fever and follows the life of an engineering graduate who accepts the position of a Panchayat secretary in a remote village of UP due to a lack of better job options. It shows his struggles as he gets accustomed to village life and develops a liking for the people around him. It stars the ‘Shubh Mangal Zyaada Saavdhaan’ fame Jitendra Kumar along with Raghuvir Yadav and Neena Gupta.
